Start your journey confidently with The Ausangate Trek, your trusted operator for responsible trekking and mountaineering in the Andes.
The Ausangate Trek is a high-altitude adventure in the heart of the Peruvian Andes. It surrounds the sacred Ausangate Mountain (6,384 m), a revered peak in Andean cosmology. Trekkers experience remote Andean villages, vibrant turquoise lakes like Pucacocha and Sibinacocha, dramatic glaciers, and the surreal colors of Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca). Unlike the crowded Inca Trail, this route offers solitude, authenticity, and raw natural beauty — making it one of the best trekking experiences in Peru.
Booking your adventure with The Ausangate Trek is simple. You can reserve directly through our official website by choosing your desired trek (e.g., Ausangate Classic 5-Day, Ausangate & Rainbow Mountain 3-Day, or Sibinacocha 7-Day). Confirmed departures are available, and we recommend booking at least 48 hours in advance for group tours, or earlier for private departures. We also offer custom itineraries tailored to your interests.
All our trekking packages include transportation from Cusco, professional mountain guides certified in high-altitude rescue and first aid, meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), accommodation in tents or mountain lodges, mules for luggage, oxygen tank, and first aid kit. Depending on the route, your trek may also include Rainbow Mountain, hot springs in Pacchanta, or a visit to Machu Picchu. Our team ensures comfort, safety, and cultural immersion at every step.
Yes. Most treks require moderate to high fitness due to the high altitude (4,000–5,200 meters). We recommend spending a few days in Cusco (3,400 m) to acclimate. For those new to high-altitude trekking, we offer acclimatization hikes like the Jampa Climb (5,500 m) or Chumpe Climb (6,110 m). These are excellent options to prepare for longer expeditions.
Absolutely. Safety is our top priority. All tours are guided by trained local experts with certifications in wilderness first aid and altitude management. Our equipment is regularly inspected, and we carry emergency supplies including oxygen and communication devices. We also follow Leave No Trace principles to ensure environmental sustainability.
Yes. We offer both group and private trekking experiences. Private treks are ideal for couples, families, photographers, or anyone seeking a more personal and flexible adventure. You can choose the pace, duration, and level of service — including options with luxury lodge stays or deluxe tents with jacuzzis in Pacchanta.
Yes. We run regular group departures for our most popular treks, including the Ausangate 7 Lagoons Full-Day, Ausangate Classic 5-Day, and Ausangate to Sibinacocha 7-Day. Simply join a scheduled date by reserving at least 2 days in advance. Check the “Confirmed Departures” section on our website to see upcoming trips.
We recommend bringing warm layered clothing, waterproof gear, trekking boots, sun protection, personal medication, and a refillable water bottle. A full packing list is provided upon booking. Sleeping gear (tent, mat, blanket) is included in our service.
We accept major credit and debit cards (Visa, MasterCard), PayPal, and bank transfers. All transactions are secure and confirmed with a receipt. For local payments, we also accept cash in soles or dollars.
