The Ausangate, Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley – 2 Days trek is a short yet extraordinary adventure through the heart of the Peruvian Andes. It combines the majesty of the Ausangate Glacier, the vibrant colors of Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca), and the surreal beauty of the Red Valley (Valle Rojo) — making it one of the most scenic treks near Cusco.

On the first day, you’ll depart from Cusco and begin your journey toward the base of the Ausangate massif, hiking through high Andean valleys dotted with alpacas and llamas. During the hike, you’ll ascend to the Apacheta viewpoint, where you can admire the turquoise Pucacocha Lakes, framed by the glaciers of Ausangate — one of the most breathtaking landscapes in the region.
The day ends at the Ananta campsite (4,700 m / 15,420 ft), where you’ll enjoy a warm dinner prepared by our trekking team and spend the night under a clear Andean sky filled with stars.

The second day starts early with a gradual climb toward the spectacular Rainbow Mountain, reaching over 5,000 meters (16,400 feet) above sea level. From the summit, you’ll take in panoramic views of the Andes before continuing toward the stunning Red Valley, known for its deep crimson tones and serene atmosphere.

This 2-day trek is perfect for those seeking a true Andean experience, surrounded by nature, culture, and the professionalism of Ausangate Trek S.A.C., a locally owned operator specialized in high-altitude expeditions in southern Peru.
