Day 01 :

Cusco – Pacchanta (4,340 m) – Hike to Jampa Base Camp (4,872 m)

Your adventure to Nevado Jampa begins with hotel pick-up in Cusco at 8:00 a.m., followed by a scenic drive through the Andean highlands to the small community of Pacchanta, located at 4,340 meters at the foot of the majestic Ausangate mountain. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking landscapes, traditional villages, and panoramic views of the Vilcanota mountain range.

Upon arrival in Pacchanta, you’ll enjoy a warm lunch with fresh local ingredients. After a short rest, we begin the hike toward the Jampa Base Camp, following a section of the famous 7 Lakes of Ausangate trail. Expect turquoise lagoons, herds of alpacas, and views of snowy peaks like Mariposa, Tinke, and Ausangate itself.

The hike covers approximately 10 km and climbs gradually to the base camp at 4,872 m, where you’ll spend the night in tents. This scenic trek allows for excellent acclimatization before the summit day and is perfect for those looking for an easy high-altitude climb in Cusco with no prior technical experience required.

Day 02 :

Jampa Summit (5,500 m) – Return to Cusco

The summit day begins early with a light breakfast at 3:30 a.m., followed by departure at 4:00 a.m. for the ascent to Nevado Jampa’s summit (5,500 m). This mountain is known as one of the most accessible glacier climbs in the region, ideal for first-time climbers in the Andes.

The route includes moraine terrain and a gentle glacier slope. You’ll use crampons and ropes under the guidance of a professional mountain guide. After approximately 3 to 4 hours of steady ascent, you’ll reach the summit and be rewarded with stunning panoramic views of the Vilcanota mountain range.

After enjoying the view and capturing photos at the top, we’ll begin the descent to base camp for a well-deserved hot lunch. Then we continue the hike back to Pacchanta, where you can optionally relax in the hot springs (entrance not included).

Finally, we return by private transport to Cusco, arriving at your hotel around 6:00 p.m., marking the end of an unforgettable two-day mountain expedition.
